This paper discusses the mathematical formulation of the problem of estimating the temperature of a system from a sampling of its energies:
Tikochinsky, Y., & Levine, R. D. (1984). Estimation of inverse temperature and other Lagrange multipliers: The dual distribution. Journal of Mathematical Physics, 25(7), 2160–2168.
I must say that, although the content is no doubt interesting, this is the least-motivating, most intensely discouraging abstract I have ever read.
ReplyDeleteI shall try and read the paper soon. Also, excpect feedback up tomorrow!
I don't know James, I think the abstract looks pretty interesting. They do have a few 'unorthodox' grammar usages, though.... I think the 'Dual Distribution' title is quite cunning/thoughtful (like a weasel). I shall (hopefully) read it soon.
